Man arrested for discharging firearm at School compound

24th May 2018 Police arrested a 43-year-old man from Matangiake last Friday 18th of May 2018 for discharging a firearm inside Tonga College School Compound on Wednesday 16 of May.

Police received a complaint from the School about a man who was threatening some of the school students, and firing a gun in to the air. A search warrant was executed by Police on Friday led to the arrest of the suspect, they also seized an airgun from his residence.

Police have charged him with possession of illegal firearm and discharging a firearm within boundaries of a town.

He was released on bail yesterday Monday 21st of May to appear at the Magistrate Court on a later date.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
