A TROPICAL CYCLONE ALERT:

A GALE  ALERT IS NOW INFORCE FOR HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND ‘EUA.

A HEAVY RAIN ALERT AND FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY IS NOW INFORCE FOR HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA.

SITUATION

TROPICAL CYCLONE KENI, CATEGORY 1, WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 16.6 SOUTH AND LONGITITUDE 172.0 EAST OR 1430KM WEST OF NUKU'ALOFA AT 5:00PM THIS AFTERNOON. CLOSE TO ITS CENTER, THE CYCLONE HAS AVERAGE WINDS OF 35-40 KNOTS. THE CYCLONE IS SLOW MOVING BUT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SOUTHEAST LATER.

FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA

FOR VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:

EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS GRADUALLY TURNING NORTH WINDS 15-20 KNOTS  LATER TOMORROW AND RISING UP TO 25KNOTS AT TIMES.

MOSTLY FINE APART FROM CLOUDY PERIODS WITH POSSIBLE ISOLATED SHOWERS.
