A GALE WIND ALERT IS NOW INFORCE FOR TONGATAPU AND ‘EUA.
A HEAVY RAIN WARNING AND FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY WAS PREVIOUSLY INFORCE FOR THE NIUAS IS NOW CANCELLED

 

SITUATION

TROPICAL CYCLONE KENI, CATEGORY 1, WAS LOCATED NEAR 17.1 SOUTH 171.5 EAST OR 1450KM WEST OF NUKU'ALOFA AT 12:00PM THIS AFTERNOON. CLOSE TO ITS CENTER, THE CYCLONE HAS AVERAGE WINDS OF 35-40 KNOTS. THE CYCLONE IS SLOW MOVING BUT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SOUTHEAST LATER.

 

FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA

FOR THE NIUAS:
NORTH TO NORTHEAST AND TURN NORTHWEST WINDS 10-15, VARIABLE UP TO 10KNOTS.
CLOUDY WITH FEW SHOWERS.
MODERATE SEAS.

FOR VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
EAST TO NORTHEAST AND TURN NORTH WINDS 15-20KNOTS, RISING UP TO 25KNOTS AT TIME.
