Beginning of the Implementation Stage of CCTF – Deliver of 4 Water Tanks to Sia’atoutai

20th March, 2018 Four water tanks were handed over to Sia’atoutai last Friday, 16th March 2018 to mark the beginning of implementation of the Climate Change Trust Funds (CCTF) program.

Coordinator of CCTF Mr. Feleti Fa’otusia said this was the first project call of the program.

“Sia’atoutai requested 12 water tanks but we only managed to hand over four tanks last week and the rest will be released this week.”

CCTF is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and manage by the Climate Change Division of the Ministry of MEIDECC.

CCTF is part of the Climate Resilience Sector Project (CRSP) projects and was allocated with an US$5 million for the CCTF program. TOP$4 million of the fund is to invest and earn interest to finance further projects and USD$1 million is to finance current community projects.

“We received 213 applications from all the communities in Tonga. We only picked 33 applications to be financed from CCTF. There are 21 projects in Tongatapu, five in Vava’u, four in Ha’apai and three in ‘Eua.”

“The total cost for the first project call is TOP$835, 605,” he said.
