In the Kingdom of Tonga, the form of Government is divided into three divisions: - The first is the Executive which is the King.

The King in Privy Council and cabinet serves as the Executive. He appoints Cabinet ministers as well as the governors of the two other main island groups secondary to the main island. The administration of the public sector of which around 20 government ministries and quasi-government bodies exist, comes under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister.

Its executive branch includes the prime minister and the Cabinet, which becomes the Privy Council when presided over by the Monarch. In intervals between legislative sessions, the Privy Council makes ordinances, which become Law if confirmed by the legislature. The Monarch is hereditary, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister are appointed for life by the Monarch, the Cabinet is appointed by the Monarch.
