The Honourable Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano, appointed the Hon. Sosefo Fe'ao Vakata as Tonga's new Minister for Public Enterprises.

PROFILE

Hon. Sosefo Fe'aomoeata Vakata is first time Tongan politician and member of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga. He is a former member of the Democratic Party of the Friendly Islands.

Hon. Vakata won the seat of Ongo Niua 17 in the 2010 elections as a candidate for the Democratic Party. On 8 December 2010 it was reported that he had withdrawn his support from the Democratic party and become an independent, and would support a noble candidate as Prime Minister.

A former civil servant. Fe'ao previously held the position of Communications Engineer and former Radio Licensing Officer and Outer Islands Project Manager for the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Prior to that, he taught at Tonga High School for many years.
