The Tonga Energy Road Map Implementation Unit (TERM-IU) is responsible for managing, coordinating, monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the TERM. The TERM-IU is seeking qualified Tongan candidates to fill the position of a Communications Officer. The Communications Officer is to provide high-level communications expertise including: developing and implementing a communications plan; developing key communications materials for the TERM-IU including the TERM website content; developing mechanisms to communicate with the public, Government, private sector and various other stakeholders; provide communications training and advice with others involved in the implementation of the TERM; and managing communications with the media.

The successful candidate should have strong verbal and written communications skills and excellent organisational abilities; excellent design and written skills; experience in dealing with, Governments, private sector, and Non-Government Organisations on critical risks and communications; proven success in managing risks and communications for infrastructure developments; cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate and work a diverse range of people; experience working in Tonga or a similar cultural environment; a tertiary qualification in a relevant field; and at least five years experience in journalism, marketing or corporate communications.

The position will be based in Nuku'alofa. The successful candidate will be offered a contract with the TERM-IU for eight months followed by two months six months later.
