Coordinates: Lat: 37.3 N Lon: 141.6E

Depth:         10km

Magnitude: 7.3

Location: EAST COAST OF HONSHU, JAPAN

 

The above magnitude is provisional and may be increased or decreased as more seismic data becomes available.

Based on the earthquake parameters above it was confirmed that a tsunami wave was generated along the Japan coast measured on tide gauges as follows:

UP TO 0.90M ALONG THE EAST COAST OF HONSHU JAPAN.

 

Based on information above, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC) and the distance from Japan to Tonga. This event is unlikely to affect Tonga.

 

This is the final message for this event unless significant changes occur.
