Deputy Speaker, Lord Tu'i'afitu leads Tongan delegation in China

08th April 2015 The Second Tonga Government and Parliament Joint Delegation to Guangdong, China has arrived safely on their ten days tour.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Speaker, Lord Tu’i’afitu is now in Guangdong, China, on the invitation of the Chinese Government.

Tonga’s Ambassador to China, Brigadier General Tau’aika ‘Uta’atu met the delegation earlier this morning when they arrived at Guangzhou, and was accompanied by Mr Li Mingxiang, the Deputy Director General of the Bureau for Oceania and Northern Affairs and Mr Yu Weihua, Deputy Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office.

The Tongan delegation includes  Hon Siaosi Sovaleni, Deputy Speaker Lord  Tu'i'afitu, The Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Forestry Hon Semisi Fakahau, the Minister for Infrastructure Hon Etuate Lavulavu, the Minister for Revenue and Customs Hon Tevita Lavemaau, Lord Tu'ilakepa, Lord Fusitu’a, Mr Mateni Tapueluelu, Mr Peni Fifita, Mr Viliami Hingano, Mr Veivosa Taka, the Director of Information Mr Anitelu Toimoana, Tourism Deputy Director Tevita Lautaha, TERM Director Mr Inoke Vala, Parliament Deputy Secretary/Clerk Dr Sione Vikilani and Ms Silivia 'Atiola.

The delegation have a busy ten days schedule which will include meetings with top Guangdong Government officials plus tours of different industries, including tourism, agriculture, fisheries and infrastructure.
