It is my singular honor and my great privilege to welcome Her Royal Highness to this most important Information and Communications Conference in the Pacific.

Your Royal Highness, I am certain that you are aware that your Ministry of Information and Communications is but an infant in your Government;

We have not learned to walk; we have not learned to find our way in the midst of your Ministries'.

You graciously returned to Tonga, Your Royal Highness, in order to strengthen us, and today we declare to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, because Her Royal Highness is here with us, we are equal to all of the established Ministries.

Not only that Your Royal Highness, but I, like your Government and Your subjects, are fully aware that it was Your Royal Highness who broke the barriers and pioneered Tonga's entry into the world of the 21st Century of Satellite and ICT Communications. That bold and visionary dream of Yours has been the beacon leading Tonga to benefit from all of the modern Internet and communications technologies.

Please accept our humble gratitude for your presence here today, Your Royal Highness.

May I formally welcome our colleagues from the Pacific.  You know, when you come to Tonga you increase the size of the Kingdom.  We are no longer the 150 small islands with 36 inhabited islands, we are the whole Pacific, so welcome to this corner of our great Pacific community.

Thank you for making us feel that we are the co-owners of the largest Ocean in the world, and you have enabled Tonga to share in this position of pride with you.

When you tread upon the grounds of Tonga , you imprint your wisdom upon our soils, and when you leave, Tonga is very much  the richer because of your presence.

Once again, I humbly thank you for gracious attendance of this Conference.

Tu'a'ofa Atu,

ENDS
