Lord Prime Minister makes first official visit to 'Eua

The Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano will make his first official visit to ‘Eua today.

The Government's official representative, Semisi Halaholo , together with ‘Eua district and town officers of ‘Eua are expected to welcome the Lord Prime Minister in ‘Ohonua, with a traditional ‘ha'unga' and prayer services.

During the one-day engagement, the Prime Minister will have an opportunity to meet with government officials and other public servants serving in the island, to discuss the importance of working together and achieving the ultimate goals of the Government for the people of Tonga, with all efforts to support a healthy and prosperous life in those islands.

Much of the visit will be focused on meetings with members of the ‘Eua Development Committee and business counterparts from all sectors. The Lord Prime Minister will visit community development projects such as water supply systems, upgrade of infrastructures in the islands such as wharfs and roads.

In mid January, Lord Tu'ivakano also paid first official visits to Ha'apai and Vava'u as Prime Minister, where he visited major projects in Vava'u and Ha'apai on his tour of those island groups, who has focussed on the infrastructural development of wharfs and upgrade of roads. This visit will complete his tour of the island groups, save the Niuas.

The Prime Minister and accompanying party will return to Tonga  the same day this evening.
