Winners of Parliament's essay & drawing competition

Winners of the Legislative Assembly's first essay and drawing competitions were awarded with prizes today thanks to the auspices of the Tonga Communication Corporation (TCC).
Clerk of the House, Sione Tekiteki presented the awards worth up to TOP$2000 including a laptop and 7 Alcatel mobile phones to the winners. The competition featured essay writings for the open category, 18-30 years old and another one for the 11-17 years of age.
18 year old Franziska Schaumkel of the Tonga Teacher's Training College won the first category essay theme "Political Reform 2010, better or for worse." She was awarded a Lenovo laptop.
Seini Vea of Liahona High School came second while Penisimani Kato came in third position. Their prizes are Alcatel OT 305 cell phones including 11 year old Rachel Folau he lotu Fonua of Tonga Side School took first prize for the essay competition theme "Tongan Parliament, its functions and how it affects you."
First runner up, Eileen Tupou of Tonga Side School was also rewarded an Alcatel OT 305 mobile.
Christy Langilangi of Tonga Side School also the drawing competition for classes one to six levels, Christopher Tangi came in second and Meliame in third position. Their prizes include Alcatel OT 305 mobile and T$10 & T$20 phone Ucall phone credit.
The competition is part of the Legislative Assembly's Education and Out Reach Programme.
TCC donated all prizes including TOP$100 phone credit.
Speaking on behalf of TCC, Supervisor Corporate Customer Cassandra Tuku'aho says "since TCC is 100 percent Tongan owned they want Parliament to utilise their telecommunication services in promoting and educating the public about Parliament.
