Princess opens Kermadec Exhibition in Nuku’alofa

Highly-acclaimed artists from the South Pacific came to Tonga to celebrate the Kermadec Exhibition, which has already exhibited in Taur2012_kermadec.jpganga and Auckland to be hosted by the New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga, His Excellency Dr. Jonathan Austin at an opening event honored by Her Royal Highness Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku'aho.

The display was open for viewing public from 22 May to 1 June at the local New Zealand High Commission in Nuku'alofa.

Amongst the work on display was by four of New Zealand's most prestigious artists, Dame Robin White, Gregory O'Brien, John Pule and Elizabeth Thomson who came with the Exhibition.

The Art Work was viewed by many school children and tertiary students, who had a rare opportunity to be exposed to this type of art and inject an interest in those with talents and natural gift.

Led by Deputy Director for Schools from the Ministry of Education, Women Affairs and Culture, Mr. Ponepate Taunisila shared his excitement with the artists at the opportunity given for Tonga's students.
