A week of celebration underway for the Queen's 85th Birthday

25 May 2011 Her Majesty, Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho will be celebrating her 85th birthday this year on May 29. Prior to that, a number of events will take place as part of the week-long festivities.

Leaders and Head of States from around the region have been invited to Tonga to join the Royal Family in the celebration.

A list of official events on the occasion of the 85th Birthday Celebration of Her Majesty Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho is shown in the table below.

Her Majesty Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho (b. 29 May 1926) is the mother of the present king of Tonga, His Majesty King George Tupou V. She was Queen Consort of the late king, Taufa'ahau Tupou IV.
