Tonga Police conducts Annual Conference for Commissioned Officers

11 October 2011. The Ministry of Police, Fire Services and Prisons has launched this morning its 42nd Annual Conference for Tonga Police Commissioned Officers, at the Band Complex, Police Training School at Longolongo.

The Conference was officially opened by the Hon. Lisiate ‘Aloveita ‘Akolo, the Minister for Police, Fire Services.

The Minister hopes that such a conference will stipulate ideas and to see significant leaps forward in the development of the Tonga Police, form investing in its staff and resources.

About sixty (60) commissioned officers from Tongatapu and the outer islands of Vava'u, Ha'apai, ‘Eua and the Niuas have gathered in Nuku'alofa, to participate in the three-day conference.

Early in the week, the Ministry held a ‘divine service' last Sunday October 9, to begin the Annual Conference.

During the conference, the commissioned officers will also meet to discuss and to implement the strategic plan and review its leadership-responsible & accountability.

It will also focus on general policing services, and the need of the Tonga Police to redevelop strengthens and professionalizes its services to the community.

The Tonga Police plays a critical role in the Government of Tonga's realizing its development vision and strategies.

This is particularly true for the areas of governance, community safety and promoting culture development.

The Conference will conclude this Thursday on October 13.
