7 February, 2012. No.7: The Tropical Cyclone Warning Previously In Force for Vava'u and Niutoputapu is now CANCELLED.

SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER SEVEN ON TROPICAL CYCLONE CYRIL ISSUED FROM FUA'AMOTU AT 11:00AM TUESDAY 07 FEBRUARY 2012.

THE TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING PREVIOUSLY IN FORCE FOR VAVA'U AND HA'APAI IS NOW CANCELLED.

THE GALE WIND WARNINGS PREVIOUSLY IN FORCE FOR HA'APAI, VAVAU AND NIUATOPUTAPU IS NOW CANCELLED.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL LAND AND COASTAL AREAS OF NIUATOPUTAPU, VAVA'U, HAAPAI, TONGATAPU AND EUA.

TROPICAL CYCLONE CYRIL CATEGORY 1 CENTRE [987HPA] WAS LOCATED NEAR 19 DECIMAL 1 SOUTH 173 DECIMAL 3 WEST OR ABOUT 80KM EAST SOUTHEAST OF VAVA'U OR 120KM EAST NORTHEAST OF LIFUKA AT ABOUT 0900AM THIS MORNING.CYRIL IS MOVING EAST-SOUTHEAST AT 20 KNOTS OR 36KM/HR.

CLOSE TO ITS CENTRE, CYRIL IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE WINDS WITH AVERAGE SPEEDS UP TO 45 KNOTS WITH MOMENTARY GUSTS TO 65 KNOTS.

FOR VAVA'U AND NIUATOPUTAPU GROUP:

WEST TO NORTHWEST WIND 20-25 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 35 KNOTS. OVERCAST WITH SHOWERS HEAVY AT TIMES BUT GRADUALLY CLEARING. HIGH SEAS.

FOR TONGATAPU AND HAAPAI GROUP:

A GALE WARNING IS NOW IN FORCE FOR HAAPAI, VAVA'U AND NIUATOPUTAPU GROUP.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR TONGATAPU GROUP.

TROPICAL CYCLONE CYRIL CATEGORY 1 CENTRE [987HPA] WAS LOCATED NEAR 18
DECIMAL 8 SOUTH 174 DECIMAL 2 WEST OR ABOUT 20KM SOUTHWEST OF
VAVA'U OR 90KM NORTH OF LIFUKA OR ABOUT 265KM NORTH-NORTHEAST OF NUKUA'LOFA
AT 0700AM THIS MORNING. CYRIL IS MOVING EAST-SOUTHEAST AT 18 KNOTS OR 33KM/HR.

CLOSE TO ITS CENTRE, CYRIL IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE WINDS WITH AVERAGE
SPEEDS UP TO 45 KNOTS WITH MOMENTARY GUSTS TO 65 KNOTS. GALE FORCE
WINDS WITHIN 120 MILES OF THE CENTRE IN THE SECTORS FROM WEST THROUGH
NORTH TO SOUTHEAST.

AT 10:00AM. THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING EAST SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 12
TO 15KNOTS AWAY FROM TONGA. ASSOCIATED RAIN AND STRONG WINDS
CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE GROUP.
